Firstly, apologies for the delayed update but one thing led to another, blah blah.
As I’ve just returned from a trip to El Tur, it would seem fitting to jump straight to where we left off with ‘The Oceansource Story’ as published in Boards Magazine and which some of you may have read by now.
As the story tells, it all all started in El Tur in November 2007 where ex-Boards test team member Gregg Dunnet and myself embarked on an adventure into the unknown by taking over a windsurfing centre in El Tur, Egypt.
Its coming up to our third anniversary and to say that it’s been an experience is the understatement of the century. Unfortunately, Gregg has moved on to new pastures whereas I’ve decided to stick to living the dream, that being to earn a living within a sport that I’ve been deeply passionate about ever since planing on my board for the very first time (remember that day?).
Turn the clock forwards by a few notches and we have a centre managed by Phil Richards and Danielle Lucas and a fine job they’ve been doing too. For those of you who have had the misfortune of not meeting these young guns, Phil and Danielle are two bright-eyed, bushy tailed windsurfers with a combined industry experience of 15 years and with salt-water for blood. Their enthusiasm for the sport is both relentless and infectious and has more recently taken them into the world of freelance coaching and clinics, kicking off with a freestyle orientated clinic in El Tur suitable for men and women alike. This is a fairly new area for clinics and I have every reason to believe that it will be a huge success.
Where do we go from here? Well, our new centre manager David Williams is now running the show and we are looking forward to the opening of the new wave beach hotel at Habibi Beach.
More about that, location reports and Oceansource.net expanding into Tour Operator status in our forthcoming updates.
